The SafeSpaces program supports the Be Strong After School Club, extending its schedule to Fridays.
Be Strong International has been selected to join SafeSpaces program to provide after-school programming to South Dade’s youth. SafeSpaces is a District 8 initiative started by Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins, that will directly address the rise of violence among youth by keeping them off the street and instead, provide them with a fun and safe space to go to after school, and help them openly engage with their local schools and communities.
Be Strong International After School Club Program will be part of this initiative by extending educational services to Fridays, increasing the opportunities for middle school youth to receive emotional, mental, physical, and social development through the arts, and adding to its mentoring and leadership development services.
“We are thrilled and proud to be part of the SafeSpaces program” said Miream Sierra, Senior Program Executive at Be Strong International. “To be selected to be part of this amazing program, validates the importance of our work with young people and their families located in District 8 and South Florida”, concluded Sierra.
The Be Strong After School Club program enhances and educates middle school youth, by implementing enrichment activities, improving their lives, and making a positive impact in their future.
