Miami, FL – The combination of sunny weather, live music, and free food moved the residents of Goulds to gather at Project P.E.A.C.E.’s Community Fun Day, hosted by Be Strong International (BSI) on Saturday, July 17th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Goulds Park.

In partnership with Miami-Dade County, Project P.E.A.C.E. (People Engaged and Advocating for Community Empowerment) is a six-month program that aims to build social and community cohesion in order to reduce crime in the Goulds community. BSI has worked with the county and local partners to provide resources and information during the Community Fun Day event on the park, now called Demps Park, 11350 S.W. 216th St, Miami, FL 33170.

Guests enjoyed food provided by BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse, and Maxwell Bros. Clothing Store, plus refreshing shaved ice from Kona-Ice. Children were also able to win prizes in raffles and receive free dance lessons from Fred Astaire Dance Studios. There were a number of exhibitions from different organizations, such as CERA (Critical Event Response Application) and Meraki Wellness & Healing, and a host of activities for the kids such as bounce houses, train rides, and performances.

“It’s truly wonderful to be able to come out and meet firsthand all of the community members, all the different sponsors, and everyone that Be Strong brings together,” says Lindsay Motta, President, and Founder at Meraki Wellness & Healing. “This truly helps us bring awareness to our resources and to the services that we have available for the community.”

“It’s all about our kids and our families,” says Edward McGovern, Founder, and CEO of CERA. “We’re all in this to make a better, safer community for them, and working alongside Be Strong has helped us move in the right direction.”

The next event will be a Back-to-School Block Party on Saturday, August 14th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Goulds Park. More than 700 school bookbags filled with supplies will be given away to community residents who must register at https://bestrongintl.org/backtoschool

Food distributions will occur on the second Thursday of every month through September 9, 2021, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at Goulds Park. To receive free food each month, must complete the online registration form in advance every month during the registration period.
