Miami, FL – Be Strong International’s (BSI) Raising the B.A.R. (Budding Adult-Child Relationship) program has been awarded a grant of $2,475 from the Cutler Bay Community Fund at The Miami Foundation.
“The Cutler Bay Community Fund aims to establish partnerships that help improve the quality of life of residents in our community, and support local nonprofit organizations,” said Cutler Bay Town Manager Rafael G. Casals. “We are proud to fund Be Strong International, Inc.’s award-winning parenting program and look forward to their success in our community.”
The funds, which cover the period of March 2021 to February 2022, will further support the program’s outreach efforts, delivery of services, and purchase of materials needed to host their parent workshops. Currently, Raising the B.A.R. workshops are being offered exclusively online due to the COVID-19 public safety restrictions. Still, nearly 1,000 more workshops were offered in 2020 than in 2019. In all, an estimated 2,276 parents have been served.
“The workshops we offer will empower parents with the techniques designed to reduce their stress levels.”, says BSI parent workshop facilitator Ezra Carias. “Their children will grow in a nurturing environment so they can become the best version of themselves while at the same time bringing happiness to their parents.”
Raising the B.A.R.’s mission is to provide educational services and resources to parents, caregivers, and families, helping them develop and sustain healthy relationships. Workshops are available in English, Spanish, and Creole, during flexible hours, including afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Sponsored and organized by The Children’s Trust Parent Club, the courses are meant to enlighten parents on some of the most common, relevant issues facing modern parents, including parenting during the pandemic.
